5th ARFAFGHMP

(Less than a week left until I work out the winners for the ThanksGIVEaway! I'm getting so excited... Devin taught me how to create a random number generator.  Wee!)

'Tis the season for traditions, and we've been celebrating our favorite traditions big time around here lately.  We started off with the 4th ARFAFTR (Annual Rose Family and Friends Turkey Run), and then we quickly followed it up with our 5th Annual Rose Family and Friends Gingerbread House Making Party.  Each year we invite different people, and this year we invited Devin's graduate students.  One is from Colombia, and one is from China - needless to say this was a new experience for both of them.  Devin said he thinks they spent quite some time googling "Gingerbread Houses" before coming over so they would know what kind of candy was appropriate. (We always make our guests donate a bag or two of candy.)  You won't want to miss the surprise decoration Devin put on his and Hanna's house...

Devin and Hanna worked together on this one.  Devin stuck Hanna's leftover pizza on the roof.  I know, right?

    Some day I hope to enjoy this ARFAfghmp tradition with you again. Gingerbread houses is a tradition for us now too thanks to you and your excellent recipe.

    Tell Devin that pizza was inventive but inappropriate. Props for ambition, but still. =)

Come Take a Tour

This is the longest post of all time, but that's because of all the pictures. So I know I shouldn't let myself get carried away since we still have the inspection to go, but... I feel like we've won half the battle, so I will show you pictures now. This backyard is one of the  main reasons I wanted this house.  It is on a corner lot, and it is really quite large.  It extends just as far off to the left.  Here you can sort of see the nice swingset we've inherited also, which Hallie will love as it has swings and a slide. This is the playhouse in the backyard.  It's about nine square feet inside, and has electrical set up and in the spring/summer you can tell it is landscaped.  My girls will be a little spoiled. This is the first thing you see when you walk in the house, aside from the stairs which you can barely see in the left corner.  It is a formal dining, but we may use it as a formal sitting room. Well, That Was Unexpected

I think it all really started on Monday afternoon.  My mother and I were talking about movies that we would like to see in the movie theater.  When my mom learned that my girls had not seen Frozen yet, she decided that was something we needed to do.  I looked up show times, and saw that Tuesdays are $5 movie days with free popcorn and the theater is right by my midwife's office.  The only showing we could go to was just after my appointment with her, and everything seemed to be falling into place just perfectly. We had a plan.  We were so excited about our movie date with the girls. But things don't always go according to plan, do they? Hanna got sick that night, and spent all day Tuesday asleep on the couch.  It seemed that our perfect plan was not going to happen. Little did I know that there were going to be far greater reasons for us to miss that movie.
