Part 1: Hallie


To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
This is the season Hallie is in right now:

A time for braided hair.
This is the first time Hallie has ever let me braid her hair like this. It is the first time I have ever done a braid like this, on anyone's head. Maybe she somehow knew that, and that was the reason for her reluctance?  Anyhow, I don't know what kind of braid it is. At first I thought it was not a French braid, then I thought it was, and now I'm just not sure either way.  Help.

A time for a very first hair cut.
I cut off four inches of my baby's hair.  Four inches.  It took her almost three years to grow that hair. It won't take that long to grow back, will it?  This hair cut was the day after the big braid. I am hoping I don't have to wait three years for it to be long enough for me to braid again.

A time for learning with friends.
At the University the school of Animal Science opened up the arena for a day and let the kids come look and pet some animals: lamb, pigs, horse, cow and calf, steers, some mice.  Hallie loves getting together with these buddies and learning new things each week.

A time for not sitting close to a boy.
While he is a remarkably handsome young fellow, I was happy that she was not concerned about sitting any closer to him.  I was even happier that she didn't have a flower to try and offer him.  Phew.

    I would definitely say that looks like a french braid to me! Great job! She is adorable!

    That is a gorgeous FRENCH braid. How have you managed to never braid anyone's hair before? Ever? You did a great job with her haircut! Haha. On Tuesday I told someone that you had never cut Hallie's hair. And now you have.

    Definitely lots of time to wait (hopefully!) before the boy season begins. Although I do remember the story about the flower giving. Cute!

    Wow you are totally brave to cut her hair! Nice job, fancy lady. Nick cut the boys hair, and I thought he was brave for that too. I stood by and took pictures. Maybe someday I'll be fancy enough to give haircuts.

    The braid is awesome. Her hair is so cute! Have you tried pigtail french braids? My grandma did that to mine when I was little.

Come Take a Tour

This is the longest post of all time, but that's because of all the pictures. So I know I shouldn't let myself get carried away since we still have the inspection to go, but... I feel like we've won half the battle, so I will show you pictures now. This backyard is one of the  main reasons I wanted this house.  It is on a corner lot, and it is really quite large.  It extends just as far off to the left.  Here you can sort of see the nice swingset we've inherited also, which Hallie will love as it has swings and a slide. This is the playhouse in the backyard.  It's about nine square feet inside, and has electrical set up and in the spring/summer you can tell it is landscaped.  My girls will be a little spoiled. This is the first thing you see when you walk in the house, aside from the stairs which you can barely see in the left corner.  It is a formal dining, but we may use it as a formal sitting room. Well, That Was Unexpected

I think it all really started on Monday afternoon.  My mother and I were talking about movies that we would like to see in the movie theater.  When my mom learned that my girls had not seen Frozen yet, she decided that was something we needed to do.  I looked up show times, and saw that Tuesdays are $5 movie days with free popcorn and the theater is right by my midwife's office.  The only showing we could go to was just after my appointment with her, and everything seemed to be falling into place just perfectly. We had a plan.  We were so excited about our movie date with the girls. But things don't always go according to plan, do they? Hanna got sick that night, and spent all day Tuesday asleep on the couch.  It seemed that our perfect plan was not going to happen. Little did I know that there were going to be far greater reasons for us to miss that movie.
