Some Good Ones

Here are some lines that have been making me chuckle and laugh lately: p.s. most of them are funny from the way the person that says them, says it... so if you don't know the incidence, it might not be funny to you. I apologize. But I have to record them for posterities sake. "Aw banana! Why'd you have to go and get all brown and mushy?" - Sid, from Sid the Science Kid "She kinda makes a man wanna be a miniature horse." - Cowboy, from Carrie Underwood ad "The feature is dead Angela. Don't bring it up again." Eric, from Twilight "So, I shouldn't have told Katie to tell her grandma that you're available?" (daughter 1) "What?!" (dad) "She thinks you're super delicious" (daughter 2) "What does she look like?" (dad) - Family from T-mobile ad "Let's move some iron!" Weird guy on Subway 5 dollar footlong ad (accompanied by weird arm gesture) "We could move it closer!" Scot...

Sleeping

Image
We get told over and over again as new parents not to put babies to sleep on their stomachs. The nurses tell us, the doctors tell us, all the books and magazines we read tell us, and if your hospital was like mine, you had to watch a movie about it before you could take the baby home. (There was also a movie on how to put the car seat in the car, how to know when the baby needs to eat, and how to change a diaper. You had to watch all of them and sign off on them before they'd let you go home with your baby.) I've even seen commercials about it on t.v. Commercials that are much more like short horror movies, actually. So, ok, it's not that big of a deal, just put her on her back. Got it. Well, that only works for so long, and then no matter how you put them down they sleep the way they want to. Case in point: this is not the way I put her down in her crib.

Ferrets

Image
So, my friend Nicole inspired me to think about what I'd be if I were an animal, and obviously the first thing I think of is tiger... but let's face it. I wouldn't be a tiger. Awesome, but no. So I thought maybe I'd be a ferret. And before anyone starts thinking that they are nasty little creatures, let me show you how beautiful they can be (not that I'm saying I'd be a ferret because I'm beautiful, but maybe I am in a ferrety kind of way?) You can't deny it. They have a certain charm. Some of you may know that I had a pet ferret when I was in high school. She used to do tricks for raisins. They really don't smell that bad either. If we ever get a pet someday, it will probably have to be some sort of animal like a ferret, thanks to my allergies. Either that or a poodle, apparently.

Twilight

So Devin and I went on a little date on Saturday. We decided that we would go to Best Buy, buy Twilight the movie, and then go to IHOP for dinner. Delicious. Then we'd come home, put Hallie to sleep (I always hate the way that sounds) and then watch the movie. We parked the car at Best Buy, and went in to look for the movie Twilight. They didn't have any more copies except for the special 2-disc edition, so we decided to walk to Target and see if they had it, and then we'd continue our walk on to IHOP, and then walk all the way back to the car. A nice walk would make it seem more like a date. So we went to Target, and they were also out of the regular version of the movie (they sold 300 on Saturday morning, all gone by that afternoon) and so we bought the special 3-disc version that was the same price as the regular one at Best Buy! Wippeee! So then we walked to IHOP and had a delicious dinner. The point of this story is what happened at Best Buy, however. Devin c...

You Can Do It, Annibelle!

Image
Well, Annibelle has still been on my mind a lot lately, and I just got another picture, she looks so vulnerable, but we know she's tough. My sister does a better job explaining things, so if you don't understand what's going on click here for more information. I am really looking forward to when Annibelle gets to go home, and then when I can come visit, and then to hold my beautiful niece, and then to watch her play with Hallie! I know Pete and Mindee are eager for this as well, so if you have extra room in your prayers, and in your thoughts, please keep Annibelle in mind.

Yay Annibelle!

Image
I am so proud of Annibelle, and Pete and Mindee! They did it! Annibelle is out of surgery, doing well, and even though I haven't yet seen what is under the blanket, I know she is still so beautiful! I am so happy for you guys! We'll keep you in our prayers for a while yet, maybe until she's through her teenage years? :) We love you! (My 5 month old niece had heart surgery yesterday.) The family would appreciate all prayers and good thoughts sent their way, I'm sure!

It's Back!

So the twitch in my right eye is back. What am I going to do? I thought maybe it was gone for good, and now I look like a person with a twitch. OH gosh. If you don't remember reading about last time it happened, you can go back and check it out here . Although this time the twitch is in the lower right quadrant of my eye. That's different... Also, Hallie wanted some crackers. We have two types of crackers that she loves to snack on, graham crackers, and club crackers, you know, like a buttery saltine. Delicious. I usually decide which one to give her, but sometimes I get tired of the tyranny of dictatorship. So, I thought I'd see if she could handle making her own choices. She's never been tested this way before. I hold out both options. "Which cracker do you want, Hallie?" She looks at the crackers. She looks up at me. She looks back at the crackers. "Which one do you want?" I ask again. A big smile slowly starts to grow on her face...
